The Satellite Telework Centers supports the ever increasing trend to work remotely, providing professional business-level office and meeting space for those who are able to avoid driving long distances to work, but who need a place outside of their homes to conduct business. They provide a "co-working" solution allowing work-at-homers, freelancers and other indie business strangers to focus on getting work done, not just getting to work.

Cj Design, selected as agency of choice over three competing firms, pitched a new look and feel for The Satellite, which as owner Jim Graham stated, "won hands down." Recently selected as the winner of Red Herring's North America 100 award, they are focused on ramping up to franchise their business model. It's imperative that all marketing materials cohesively position the company to gain a strong following and build a client base of regular users. Currently, The Satellite has locations in Felton and downtown Santa Cruz with plans of expanding to several strategic bay area hotspots - typically just outside of busy downtown settings. Keep an eye out for more telework locations popping up locally.

Summit International Awards (SIA) notified Cj Design of four recent wins representing outstanding creative in the 2010 design competition. Work selected includes Joop Rubens Photography Logo (SILVER), Sierra Bluffs Website Redesign (SILVER), Winter Creek Homes Website Redesign (BRONZE), and The Salinas Auto Mall Landing Page (BRONZE).

SUMMIT INTERNATIONAL AWARDS ANNOUNCES WINNERS FOR 2010 - Portland, Oregon.
Recognized worldwide as the industry’s most prestigious awards exclusively for works created by small and mid-size marketing firms, this year’s Creative Competition drew nearly 4100 entries from twenty-two countries. It's unique in that it limits entrants by billings. It is open to advertising and public relations agencies, advertisers and in-house marketing departments, video production and multimedia agencies, graphic designers and other creative companies with annual billings less than $30 million. Using rigorous evaluative criteria and top international judges, this unique competition rewards those firms truly deserving of special recognition. Submissions are evaluated based on the strength of their big idea, the quality of execution and their ability to persuade. Entries this year were reviewed and scored by a panel of sixteen judges representing many of today's top creative agencies worldwide.

Known as "America's Headset Specialists", Plantronics is the industry standard for wired, corded, computer and mobile communication headsets. The Santa Cruz-based company pioneered the technology in 1969 with the historic "One small step for man" transmission from the moon and is still the leading innovator in the field. Today, Fortune 500 corporations rely on the brand as well as individual consumers worldwide.

Oak Hill Corporation, one of the largest marketing agencies in Silicon Valley, contracted with Cj Design to concept and develop an Enterprise-level "Fit Kit" package. Plantronics' in-house design team proposed a simple solution, but desired alternative solutions to the problem at hand. They needed a specific size box that would fit securely within the main package, grab the immediate attention of the customers upon opening the package as the first component to investigate and visually convey (without words) how to attach the enclosed earpiece fittings.

In less than a week, Cj Design concepted three very different form factors proposing diverse materials, created functional to-scale mock-ups with photography and development notes and presented to the client. Their jaws were to the ground. Their expectations were to approve concept direction through sketches only at this early stage. Several diverse designs were created based on corporate brand and finalized for production at their Mexico facility. See the progress below:

FEBRUARY 2010 : :

The Salinas Auto Mall signed Yellow Bus Advertising in conjunction with Cj Design to handle all marketing for 2010, kicking off the new campaign with a fresh web presence. The concept was to remove the obvious from the equation - cars - and focus on putting them on the map while giving the auto mall somewhat of a persona as well. We hired Blue Sky Aerial to shoot hi-res overheads of the area including close-ups of each dealership which were used to compile a simulated, but quite realistic representation of the location. The website acts as a portal to allow visitors direct and intuitive access to their individual dealership of choice. The site has already won a handful of design awards in the first few months of going live.
